Excellent content; outdated photos

We loved this book, and definitely give it 5 stars for content and for the conversations it initiated! As with all things, you get what you put in, but we really appreciated the discussions it brought forward! Having tried lots of marriage books, this was our favorite one to work through together (with "Sacred Marriage" being our favorite to read and discuss). The reason I gave this book 4 stars instead of 5 is because it's definitely an older book (it would benefit from being republished) with really outdated photos; my brother got married after we did, and is in interracial marriage. while I normally recommend this book to all engaged couples, I felt I had to warn him before recommending this one, as the photos - while racially diverse - are all of same-race couples.

I used this Wright and Roberts workbook several years ago in pre-marital counseling with couples and was delighted to find it again. I prefer to use it as a pre-engagement workbook and challenge couples to consider if they really ARE a good match. Marriage should be a "for as long as we both shall live" union but it has become so much less for some. The same workbook can be used for those who have having struggles in their marriage because the issues that usually give couples trouble are dealt with here. What marriage is, the expectations individuals have of marriage and their partner, money and sex and family and children and the commitment to one another needed to weather storms that life brings are dealt with in this workbook. I heartily commend it to anyone considering becoming engaged--before all the wedding plans are discussed and while you might still gracefully say "No" or "Not just yet" to your best friend or family members--to those who are already engaged and even to those who are already married. These topics are always good reminders about how to be the best marriage partner I can be--even for those married 20 or 50 years.
Of course, the Amazon service was fantastic--the workbooks were at my door within about three days, well ahead of my expectations--so my thanks to Amazon for continued high performance.

Although it was a good guide and useful information I feel like most serious couples are going to know most of the things it asks/discusses already. Many of the questions about your partner seemed like things you would learn on the first few dates...
