In this powerful polemic, Barling tackles the paradoxes at the heart of anti-racism and asks whether, by adopting the language of the oppressor to liberate the oppressed, we are in fact paralysing ourselves within the false mythologies inherited from raciology, race and racism. About the Author
D. Jeff Burton (BS, MS, PE) has degrees in mechanical engineering and occupational health. Since 1974 he has participated in hundreds of ventilation design and evaluation projects.

Author of many articles and texts on the subject, Burton is also a member of ASHRAE, ASSE, SSA, ACGIH, and is a Past President of AIHA. He has served on the ACGIH Industrial Ventilation Committee and the ANSI Z9.5 Subcommittee on Lab Ventilation. He was an adjunct Associate Professor of Mechanical Engineering at the University of Utah for over two decades.

About the Author

David E. Cooper is a former lecturer in philosophy, having taught at Oxford University and the universities of Miami, London, and Surrey before being appointed as professor of philosophy at Durham University. He has been the president or chair of several learned societies, including the Mind Association, the Philosophy of Education Society of Great Britain, and the Friedrich Nietzsche Society, and has served on the editorial boards of various journals, including Contemporary Buddhism. He is the author of several books, including Metaphor; Existentialism: A Reconstruction; The Measure of Things: Humanism, Humility and Mystery; Meaning (Central Problems of Philosophy); A Philosophy of Gardens; and World Philosophies: An Historical Introduction.
